This Friday the 13th: RUMBLE Virtual Panel
Join me at 7 p.m. Mountain time to discuss Link Wray and Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World, hosted by Central New Mexico Community College
Hi everyone,
Just a midmonth mini-email to let you know about an event you may be interested in.
Central New Mexico Community College’s School of Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences is presenting a virtual panel inspired by the fantastic documentary Rumble: the Indians Who Rocked the World for Indigenous Futures Month, and I’m on it.
Join us Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. Mountain time for a discussion of the book, the film, Link Wray and other Indigenous musicians. Click the red button down below to register for the Zoom.
If you haven’t seen Rumble yet, it’s a must-watch, starring Buffy Sainte-Marie, Iggy Pop, Robbie Robertson, Martin Scorsese, Stevie Salas, Rhiannon Giddens and many more. You can get it on Amazon or iTunes, but I suggest instead watching at your leisure between November 12 and 19 here, where the screening fee will support independent theater Guild Cinema in Albuquerque. Hope to see you there!
The panelists:
Dana Raidt, Author of The First Man in Black: Link Wray
Becki Jones, Diné (Weedrat, Nizhóní Girls, Sing Down the Moon)
Ryan Dennison, Diné (Ryan Dennison and the Dimensions, Sani Scarves).
This event is presented with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
